As a part of the workshop, the 4 important pillars of photography – Subject Knowledge, Fundamental concepts of photography, Shooting Techniques and Post processing will be covered. The below topics from the concepts of photography be covered and you will learn how to apply these concepts in Wildlife photography.

  • Manual and autofocus (focusing points, autofocus lock, single or continuous focus, Focusing Sensors, AF cases, Advanced AF settings of camera)
  • Manual exposure (ISO, shutter speeds, Apereture)
  • Metering modes (evaluative, matrix, spot metering)
  • Depth of field (shallow, deep, hyper focal distance)
  • Motion (freezing, blurring and panning)
  • Picture styles / picture control (colour, black and white, sepia etc…)
  • Aperture priority, shutter speed priority and program modes
  • Understanding exposure – the 18% concept
  • White balance (pre-set and custom)
  • The temperature of light (natural and artificial colour cast)
  • Composition (framing)
  • Elements of design (seeing v/s looking)
  • Lenses and perspective (the right choice of focal length)
  • Pre-visualization
  • Completing the story
  • Camera settings related to Wildlife Photography.
  • Understanding Subject Behavioural aspects.
  • Understanding your camera and shooting techniques.

Post-Processing:
During the course of the workshop, you will be taken through the fundamentals of image processing and the following topics will be covered:

  • Colour management policies (colour settings, working space, ICC profiles etc.)
  • Working with RAW files
  • Cropping and image editing
  • Levels, curves, contrast, saturation adjustments (All through layers and advance techniques of masking)
  • Image sharpening, cloning, dodge and burn
  • Noise reduction.
  • Saving for web/ printing

During the Field Outing
During the field outing, your mentor Sudhir Shivaram will help you make memorable images. Inputs provided on the field will enable you make the most of the opportunity.
The teaching and learning will not stop after the workshop. In fact this is just the starting point. You will be part of the SSP community of the SSP website where your learning and interactions with fellow photographers continues.
Sample 3 Nights / 4 Days Detailed Itinerary
Day 1:

  • Arrival at the destination.
  • After check-in formalities and some rest, a brief introductory session about the park and understanding about the habitat and photography conditions.
  • Depending on destination and arrival time, we may have a safari on day 1.
  • After returning from the safari, some rest and interactive session on photography workshop covering the learning mentioned.
  • Lights out

Day 2,3

  • AM: Wake-up call followed by Coffee/Tea.
  • Safari: We go for the safari as per the park timings, return from the safari, have breakfast, take some rest.
  • Photography Learning: We continue with our photography learning with hands on session in the hotel / resort.
  • Lunch: Post the photography workshop, we will have lunch, take rest and get ready for the evening safari.
  • Safari: We go for the safari as per the park timings, return, some coffee/Tea and rest.
  • Photography Learning: We continue with photography learning with image review shot during the safaris along with other topics as per the topics mentioned.
  • Dinner: Dinner as per pre-decided timing and lights out.

Day4:

  • AM: Wake-up call followed by Coffee/Tea.
  • Safari: We go for the safari as per the park timings, return from the safari, have breakfast and depart for our destination.

Workshop Fee (5% GST will be additional):
The workshop fee is split into 2 parts (Please message us for the costing and duration):
1) Sudhir’s Professional Fee.
2) The actual cost of client accommodation, Sudhir Accommodation, all safari permits, Gypsy cost, Sudhir flight ticket, Sudhir transport from/to airport and destination.
Package Inclusions

  • 3 Nights / 4 Days stay at a star property with all Meals.
  • Accommodation on Single Occupancy basis.
  • 2 Photographers per Gypsy (depends on location and vehicle provided).
  • National Park Entry, Mandatory guide fees.
  • 1 yr subscription to advanced plan of Sudhir’s video tutorials.

Package Excludes:

  • Laundry, phone calls or items of your personal nature.
  • Anything not mentioned in the itinerary.
  • Tips to drivers and guides.
  • Transportation to destination (This will be arranged based on your arrival details and charged on the actuals)
  • Camera fee as prescribed by forest department (If any).
